Signals & Workflows

Save a search as a Signal and get new matching jobs or companies by email, Slack or webhook, or start from a Workflow template.

A Signal is a saved search that JobsPipe keeps checking for you. When new postings match, it tells you by email, Slack or webhook. Manage them in the dashboard under Signals.

Signals are managed in the dashboard only, while you are signed in. They can't be created, listed or changed with an API key.

What a Signal watches

Every Signal has:

  • Filters - the same filters as jobs search. A Signal needs at least one filter, otherwise it would match the whole corpus. Paging and sorting settings are not saved.
  • A mode - what you want to hear about:
    • Every new matching job (jobs) - one match per new posting.
    • Companies that start hiring (companies) - one match per company, the first time any of its postings matches. A company that keeps posting matching roles is not reported again.
  • An intent (optional, up to 500 characters) - a plain-language description of what makes a match relevant, e.g. "companies adopting NetSuite in their own stack, not consultancies". When set, AI checks each new match against it and drops the ones that don't fit before anything is sent.

Each posting or company is delivered once per Signal.

Save a search as a Signal

  1. Run a search in Search.
  2. Click Save as Signal above the results.
  3. Fill in the dialog:
    • Name - pre-filled from your search.
    • Tell me about - Companies that start hiring or Every new matching job.
    • Email - where to send matches.
    • How often - Daily digest or As soon as they appear.
  4. (Optional) Click Preview how noisy this is to see how many postings matched these filters in the last 30 days.
  5. Click Save signal.

Signals saved from Search deliver by email. To send matches to Slack or a webhook, or to add an intent, create the Signal from Workflows.

Workflows

Workflows is where you set up a Signal from a template or by describing it in chat. Every workflow you create shows up in Signals.

  • Browse templates - pick a ready-made watch, fill in its fields and click Create workflow. Templates are grouped into Sales & lead gen, Recruiting, Competitive intel, Job boards & feeds, Job seekers and Research. Examples: Companies adopting a technology, Target-account hiring watch, Competitor posting tracker, Recruiter sourcing feed, Job-board inventory webhook and Personal job alert. Many templates come with an intent already written, which you can edit under What makes a match relevant? (AI-filtered). Templates marked Coming soon can't be created yet.
  • Chat - describe what you want to watch in your own words. The assistant searches, settles the filters and shows a proposal card with the mode, cadence, filters, intent and a 30-day match count. Nothing is created until you choose a destination and click Create workflow on the card.

Both routes let you choose the destination kind (Email, Slack or Webhook) and, for templates, How often.

Destinations

Each Signal created in the dashboard delivers to one destination. To send the same search to two places, create it twice.

DestinationTargetPlanWhat is sent
EmailAn email addressAll plansUp to 10 matches listed, and a count of the rest
SlackA Slack incoming webhook URL (https)Paid plansUp to 10 matches in one message
WebhookA public https URLPaid plansUp to 100 matches as a signed alert.matched event

Webhook destinations get their own whsec_ signing secret. The dashboard does not display it yet, so deliveries to a Signal webhook can't be signature-verified today. See Webhooks → alert.matched for the payload, signature verification and retries. For Slack, see Slack as a Signal destination.

Signal emails stop if you turn off Job alerts under Settings → Preferences.

Cadence

Option in the dashboardCadenceWhen matches are sent
As soon as they appear / within hoursinstantAfter each check that finds new matches. Checks run every few minutes against postings discovered up to a few hours earlier, so matches arrive within hours of discovery.
Daily digestdailyOnce a day, from 09:00 UTC, covering everything found since the previous digest. Nothing is sent on days with no matches.

Manage Signals

The Signals page lists each Signal with its filters, mode, destination and when it was last checked. For each Signal you can:

  • Pause or resume it with the switch. A paused Signal is not checked and sends nothing.
  • Delete it with the trash icon.

Filters and destinations can't be edited after creation; delete the Signal and create a new one. A failed checks badge means the last checks could not run; the Signal keeps retrying on the next check.

A destination that fails every retry for a delivery (6 attempts over about 8.5 hours) is disabled and receives nothing more. Delete and recreate the Signal to restore it.
